101 Templates you need to prepare for the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme

Preparing for the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme inspection can be an onerous task.

This often requires writing protocols for procedures and tasks that many practices do and train without having to think about it.

And writing protocols is hard…and it often costs much more in time than what we are charging for this pack! Many managers also wonder and worry if you are saying enough – or even too much – so it's much easier just to copy what someone has already done!

Therefore this pack has been created to help you do just that – as it is a frequent, popular request we get. The templates come in Word®Document format allowing you to simply copy and paste them into your own format and system if need be.

The psychology of 'Having a quiet word' with misbehaving colleagues

This course is relevant to anyone who finds the ‘people-management’ part of veterinary practice uncomfortable.
Many managers tolerate unexpected or undesired colleague behaviour for too long and allow molehills to turn into mountains which could have been resolved by ‘Having a quiet word’ earlier. At the same time we don’t want to jump down people’s throat’s for every misdemeanour; the challenge is to deal with issues proportionally – and informally.

The webinars will look at how we can prevent frustrating behaviour using many of the day-to-day management processes that represent a 'soft' approach to learning and development. We will also cover why various personality types are better at having – and receiving – a quiet word if needed. We will look at how to have a difficult conversation but in a constructive manner and how to decide if, when and how to escalate your approach to a more formal disciplinary process.

Promoting your Preventative Healthcare Plan (Management)

Preventative healthcare plans are a common, if not an essential tool required in order to achieve widespread client compliance with preventative healthcare on an ongoing basis.  Furthermore, it is has been repeatedly demonstrated that clients whose pets are a member of a practice's healthcare plan, consistently spend more per annum than clients who have not signed up to the healthcare plan.  This increased spend isn’t simply a reflection of the increased commitment to preventative healthcare products and services; it reflects the stronger bond clients have with the practice which results in more frequent visits when their pets are ill or injured.

Whilst most practices have some form of Preventative healthcare plan nowadays, many struggle to achieve significant rates of penetration amongst their patient base.

5 things relating to mental health that everyone in veterinary practice should know

This free webinar is kindly sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim and originally took place live online in May 2021, in support of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Whilst veterinary practice is often a thrilling and enjoyable environment to work in, it is also an emotionally unsettling environment. This is because delivering veterinary service and care incorporates many of the themes that lead to unsettled emotional weather, a state otherwise known as dysphoria. Like unsettled weather patterns, feelings of dysphoria are inevitable – and indeed beneficial – at least to some degree. Similarly, they can pass quickly or hang around for longer than is comfortable and even become as established as an adverse climate of compromised mental health.
