Brian graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 1995 and worked in mixed practice before studying for an MBA at Nottingham Business School in 2001. He has set up and developed 6 veterinary practices from start-ups during the last 22 years and currently leads and works as a clinician in his current practice Aldeburgh Vets. Brian completed a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology, as well as General Practice certificates in Business and Professional Studies and Small Animal Medicine. He was The UK’s Petplan Vet of the Year in 2008. He is Associate Professor in Veterinary Business at Nottingham University Vet School and in July 2020 he was awarded the title Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (FRCVS) in recognition of outstanding contributions to the veterinary profession.
In 2017 Brian raised £120,000 for Brooke Animal Hospital by running 10 marathons in 10 consecutive days all across the UK and Ireland. In August 2020 Brian ran 31 marathons in 31 days from John O’Groats to Lands End to raise £10,000 for a charity called Street Vet which attends to the dogs of the homeless. In 2022 he was also awarded the RCVS Inspiration Award for his work with charity and support for colleagues within the profession.

Sophie joined Colourful CPD in April 2020. Prior to this she worked as a veterinary receptionist and customer care manager for almost 10 years in various small animal hospitals across Surrey. She thrives on establishing relationships with clients and ensures the customer experience in practice is of a high standard.
Sophie deals with the day-to-day running of Colourful CPD, and in 2022 pursued her passion to become Marketing Manager.
Sophie gained a finalist position in the VMA‘s New Marketing Talent award 2020 and has more recently become part of the first ever London Vet Show 30 under 30 Class of 2022.
Outside work you’ll find her bargain hunting and gazing at beautiful old buildings across the globe.

Stephanie Writer-Davies

Steph has developed the Colourful Nurse Consulting Skills training course alongside Brian. Steph is a veterinary surgeon with 36 years experience who has owned her own practice which was a VN training practice. She was SPVS Hon President in 2016 and was the SPVS VN liaison for 10 years. She is a strong supporter of the VN profession, believing in the important role they play in our practices, and being keen to see nurses performing broader and more challenging roles and improve their status and job satisfaction. She is a member of the Career Development & Progression and Training Practice working groups of VN Futures.

Libby trained as a farm secretary at Brooksby Agricultural College in the late 1980’s. After working in a farm office in Norfolk for 3 years, she travelled to be Estate Secretary for a large Estate in Wiltshire, encompassing organising The Marlborough Cup & Country Fair. Libby moved to London in 2003 for a couple of years to tour with a rock band, studying for a FD in Crowd & Safety Management, her C1 driving licence and running her own bookkeeping business. Libby now lives back in Norfolk and continues to work free-lance with a variety of clients of different interests. When Libby is not working, she can be found out horse riding, playing golf, skiing or walking her lurcher Mr Pickle.
