On completion you are entitled to use the post-nominals CertNCS(CVC).
This course is completed online and there is no time limit on the completion of this course.
The course fee includes the examination fees. Examination takes the form of reflective questions, completing the case logs and passing a final viva.
This course represents 100 hours of CPD. A certificate is available to download upon completion.
This certificate is appropriate to those in Ireland who have worked in the veterinary profession before and are moving into management or those who have worked as a manager outside of the veterinary profession and now work within veterinary practice. It provides a grounding in the legal, theoretical and procedural skills that are required and is equally appropriate for individuals who have never worked in the veterinary profession before. It is also appropriate for those who may have several years’ experience in a clinical role, for whom management is a new challenge.
This course examines your understanding of the content and on completion you will be entitled to use the post-nominals CertNCS(VPM).
You will work through each module at your own pace and at the end of each module, you submit it for marking by our external examiner. It equates to 50 hours of CPD and on completion you will receive an official certificate of achievement via post.

Many managers tolerate unexpected or undesired colleague behaviour for too long and allow molehills to turn into mountains which could have been resolved by ‘Having a quiet word’ earlier. At the same time we don’t want to jump down people’s throat’s for every misdemeanour; the challenge is to deal with issues proportionally – and informally.
The webinars will look at how we can prevent frustrating behaviour using many of the day-to-day management processes that represent a 'soft' approach to learning and development. We will also cover why various personality types are better at having – and receiving – a quiet word if needed. We will look at how to have a difficult conversation but in a constructive manner and how to decide if, when and how to escalate your approach to a more formal disciplinary process.

Whilst veterinary practice is often a thrilling and enjoyable environment to work in, it is also an emotionally unsettling environment. This is because delivering veterinary service and care incorporates many of the themes that lead to unsettled emotional weather, a state otherwise known as dysphoria. Like unsettled weather patterns, feelings of dysphoria are inevitable – and indeed beneficial – at least to some degree. Similarly, they can pass quickly or hang around for longer than is comfortable and even become as established as an adverse climate of compromised mental health.
